Deecliq Transfer: Sending Files Without Trusting a Stranger With Your Data
I wanted a way to share files where the link expires, no account is needed, and your data isn't kept forever. So I built exactly that.
Think about how you currently send files to people. Email has size limits. WhatsApp compresses your images. Google Drive requires both people to have accounts. WeTransfer works, but your file sits on their servers indefinitely, tied to your email.
I wanted something simpler and more private. Upload a file, get a link, share it. The link expires after a set time. The file is gone. No account needed on either end. No permanent storage of your data.
Deecliq Transfer was born from a specific moment: I needed to send a large contract to a client who didn't have Google Drive or Dropbox. I didn't want to email it (too sensitive). I didn't want to use a random file-sharing site (who knows where that data ends up).
Building the expiry system was the fun part. The file itself gets a unique encrypted identifier. The expiry time is embedded in the link. When someone tries to access it after expiry, the file is deleted server-side and they get a clean "this link has expired" message — not a 404, not a vague error.
The transfer page is now one of the most used features on Deecliq. People send project files, design assets, documents, videos. It just works. And when the link expires, it's gone. That's a promise I take seriously.
